Summary
The Construction Cost Engineer supports field activities and spends a majority of time working with the Project Manager supporting commercial related items. Activities include assisting with cost tracking, contract management, financial projections, cost and productivity analysis, and reporting activities in support of management of cost, schedule, quality, safety, procurement, and regulatory compliance, on a large-scale construction project.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Construction Cost Engineer will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner:
- Supports Project Manager on Management of Cost and Schedule
- Tracks internal and Subcontractor costs
- Compares costs against field progress to assess productivity
- Provide cost review reports to management
- Prepare and track purchase orders
- Review subcontractor invoices
- Periodic observations of ongoing work in the field
- Supports Project Engineering and Quality
- Ensures a Safe Work Environment
- Participates in Training/Certifications
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university and 1 years of experience or 4 years of construction and/or accounting related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to navigate construction sites, climb ladders, walk on uneven surfaces
- Strong analytical and mathematical ability
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Preferred
- Certification from a professional organization
- Familiar with EVMS, (CPI, SPI, etc.)
- Experience working on construction sites
- Ability to interpret schedules
