Summary Role Description

Baker Construction Enterprises, Inc., one of the nation’s largest concrete contractors is searching for a Senior Financial Accountant – Job Cost to join the Accounting team.  The Senior Financial Accountant – Job Cost serves as the lead for the preparation and distribution of timely and accurate reporting schedules of the monthly financial statements for internal and external purposes as well as the development of the monthly work in progress report (WIP).

Roles and Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Accountant/Job Cost will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner.   • Prepares and maintains standard, adjusting job cost adjustments with related support and inputs entries into Vista
  • Corresponds with Regional Controllers regarding the monthly WIP projection and incorporates these revised forecasts into the WIP report
  • Communicates any material job forecast versus actual discrepancies to the Regional Controller for timely resolution
  • Implements the necessary changes to individual project figures as requested by the leadership team
  • Generates and inputs monthly billing journal entry and reversal
  • Reconciles and validates WIP report to the financial reports
  • Prepares, distributes and maintains various supporting schedules for the monthly financial statements
  • Performs account analyses as requested
  • Communicates effectively with impacted departments to advise of necessary account corrections


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 5 plus years of related experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP, FASB, WIP, and auditing 
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally or in writing within and outside the organization
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures
  • Ability to effectively present financial information and respond to questions from all levels of the organization
  • Ability to resolve issues in a timely, accurate, professional, and friendly manner in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret information provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to calculate mathematical figures such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgment
  • Effectively use time-management skills to prioritize workflow to meet deadlines
