Summary

The Masonry Block Project Superintendent oversees profitable installation of project work by directing co-workers and interfacing, coordinating and directing other trades. Responsible for a specified area of a large project, or entire small or medium project. Responsible for safety, planning, cost and productivity, while perpetuating an SQP culture. Responsible for client relationship.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Masonry Block Project Superintendent will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, high quality and productive (SQP) manner. Note that the areas listed are intendent to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by co-workers assigned to this role. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with this job.

 

  • Plans Work
    • Reviews the project documents to establish the most cost-effective way to build the project while considering the impact of safety, quality, and schedule
    • Provides input to project schedule and is held accountable for meeting that schedule
    • Responsible for manpower, interviews and assists in the selection of new hires while following Company Recruitment and Hiring Guidelines
    • Attends regular project meetings, records, and reports daily quantities of yards of concrete placed, block/brick laid, and reports production progress to Project Manager
    • Records information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports, including Safety Meetings, Block Counts, and Equipment Maintenance Checklists
    • Maintains strict contract document control
    • Writes RFI's and Change Orders as needed and sends to the proper recipients
  • Coordinates and Executes Work
    • Manages cost by adjusting crew size, make-up of crew, and means and methods to address quality and efficiencies
    • Meets with side staff and Foreman daily work plan production, review schedules, materials, manpower needs, and safety requirements
    • Supervises and coordinates layout of work
    • Inspects work in the progress to ensure adherence to SQP processes
    • Inspects work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met
    • Arranges for repairs of equipment or machinery
    • Maintains equipment/tool inventory
  • Oversees the Work of Direct Reports
  • Ensures a Safe Work Environment
  • Participates in Training/Certifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and 5 years of related experience and/or training; or 10 years related experience
  • Foreman experience
  • May require appropriate Craft Certifications
