Lead Mechanic

Summary Role Description

The Lead Mechanic is responsible for mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance of equipment.  S/he directs and oversees the work of mechanics within the assigned area.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Executes assigned preventative maintenance program
• Diagnoses mechanical issues and recommends course of action
• Performs assigned processes required to maintain ready-status
• Keeps pace with technological advancements and maintains proficiency for the repair of all equipment within assigned area of responsibility 
• Completes preventative maintenance logs and repair status documentation
• Follows safety guidelines and sets example by wearing PPE, staying aware of surroundings, etc.

Requirements

• Trade school certification and a minimum of 3 years of experience 
• Current knowledge of small engines, hydraulics, diesel, and electronics
• Welding certification or experience preferred
• Able to read and comprehend documents such as schematic drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals
• Able to work in a team environment
