Summary

The Formwork Detailer II prepares concrete structure and formwork drawings for assigned projects, incorporating information from project drawings, bulletins, sketches, RFI responses, and shop drawings.  May perform onsite inspections of produced drawings.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Formwork Detailer II will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner:

  • Produces working formwork shop drawings based on the chosen formwork system
  • Produces pour break drawings
  • Produces preliminary crane layout drawings
  • Identifies safety issues on the drawings
  • Communicates with the field on drawing conflicts and issues related to formwork
  • Reviews construction drawings for dimensional conflicts and clarifications
  • Produces RFIs to resolve conflicts 
  • Produces repetitive drawings for typical formwork layout
  • Maintains project drawing files
  • Plots and assembles drawings per standards set by the Engineering Department
  • Compares and checks their production drawings to the construction documents 
  • Checks Formwork Detailer’s I work  
  • Participates in transition meetings to determine production schedule for shop
  • Provides quantity take-offs of form material to the shop for fabrication and shipment
  • Monitors shop production with the field progress
  • Produces work orders to shop for pre-assembly of forms to be shipped to the field
  • Produces work orders for external rentals and purchases of formwork equipment
  • Establishes delivery dates for formwork delivered to project
  • Visits jobsite to ensure materials are installed per formwork drawings and notifies Formwork Engineer of any conflicts or issues found
    • Monitors project schedule thru communication with the field to determine submittal and formwork delivery dates

Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent; minimum of one year of related detailing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Basic understanding of BIM

  • Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished by written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret documents such as blueprints and construction drawings
