Summary

The IT Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, documenting, and guiding the implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective technology solutions that meet business needs. S/he bridges business requirements and technical execution, ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and long-term IT strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes business requirements and translate them into technical solution designs
  • Designs end-to-end architecture across applications, data, integrations, and infrastructures
  • Defines solution blueprints, architecture diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Collaborates with business stakeholders, developers, infrastructure teams, and vendors
  • Guides development teams during implementation and resolves architectural issues
  • Participates in system integration, data migration, and cloud adoption initiatives
  • Conducts technical reviews and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Ensures solutions comply with security, performance, scalability, and compliance standards
  • Supports project planning, estimation, and risk assessment from a technical perspective
  • Evaluates and selects appropriate technologies, platforms, and vendors

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Over five years of progressive experience in IT systems design, development, and architecture
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles
  • Experience designing solutions across multiple domains (applications, integrations, data, infrastructure)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and integration patterns
  • Experience with ITSM best practices (ITIL, COBIT, ISO/IEC 20000)
  • Must be able to travel to user sites by automobile or airplane to implement solutions, gather requirements, conduct, or attend training classes, etc. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ERP systems, enterprise platforms, or large-scale business applications
  • Background in DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Architecture certifications (e.g. TOGAF, Azure/AWS Solutions Architect)
  • Experience in Agile and/or hybrid project environments

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills for effective training, documentation, and interfacing with the user community and all levels of the organization
  • Ability to develop presentations and provide regular reports to management
  • Must be adept at defusing user disputes/grievances
    Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to use basic math, geometry and algebra
  • Ability to develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
    Proficient with Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, and collaboration platforms
  • Proficient with Issue tracking tools (i.e. Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • Proficient in operating systems and platforms, cloud computing, networking & infrastructure, data & databases, security & identity management, development & automation, ERP & system integrations
  • Proficient in documentation and design tools (i.e. Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io)
  • Exhibits excellent communication skills, both technical and business-facing
  • Possess technical leadership and mentoring
  • Ability to balance business needs with technical constraints
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under the pressures of a heavy workload and/or time constraints
  • Keen attention to detail with superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong problem-solving, evaluative, and crisis management skills
  • Possess strategic and analytical thinking
  • Constantly required to navigate office; may occasionally be required to navigate construction site environments
  • Occasionally required to handle average weight objects up to 45 pounds
