Summary

The Crane, Rigging, and Equipment Manager provides overall management direction for all lifting and equipment operations on the project. This includes oversight of crane and rigging activities, management of both owned and rented project equipment, and coordination of equipment scheduling to support construction milestones. The role serves as the central point of accountability for crane operations, equipment utilization, and vendor coordination while ensuring full compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. Responsible for safety on the project by perpetuating the IIF culture.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Crane, Rigging, and Equipment Manager will possess competency in the areas listed below in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner. Requirements

 

Required Experience and/or Education

  • Minimum 8–10 years of crane, rigging, and heavy equipment experience in an industrial or large-scale construction setting.
  • NCCCO certification (Lift Director, Rigger Level II, or Mobile Crane Operator preferred).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in OSHA 1926 Subpart CC and ASME B30.5, B30.9, and B30.10 compliance.
  • Solid working knowledge of heavy equipment operations, maintenance schedules, and rental logistics.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret lift plans, structural drawings, and equipment schematics.
  • Experience managing large-scale operations with both owned and rented equipment assets.
  • Proficiency with lift planning software, asset tracking systems, and equipment databases.

Preferred Experience and/or Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).
  • Prior work on nuclear, heavy civil, or government projects is a strong plus.
  • Proven leadership in fast-paced, schedule-driven environments with a safety-first culture.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, resolve issues in real-time, and support project-critical operations.
