Summary
The Learning Technology Manager is responsible for the strategy, governance, administration, optimization, and continuous improvement of the organization's Learning Management System (LMS) and enterprise learning technology ecosystem. Serving as the product owner for the LMS, this role ensures the platform delivers an intuitive, engaging, and business-aligned learning experience while supporting compliance, operational excellence, workforce capability, and organizational growth. The Learning Technology Manager leads the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, mobile learning, and digital learning platforms. S/he manages vendor relationships, drives innovation, and partners with HR, Learning & Development, IT, Safety, Operations, and business leaders to maximize technology adoption, user experience, operational effectiveness, and organizational value while defining the future direction of Baker's learning technology ecosystem.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Learning Technology Manager will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner:
- Provides strategic oversight of the overall strategy, governance, lifecycle, performance, and roadmap of the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Defines business requirements and prioritize system enhancements based on business value, compliance requirements, and user needs
- Evaluates and implements emerging learning technologies, including AI, automation, adaptive learning, and digital learning tools
- Develops standards and best practices for digital learning technologies, AI-assisted content development, and LMS administration
- Leads the administration, configuration, maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of the LMS
- Establishes system governance, security roles, permissions, configuration standards, and administrative procedures
- Oversees LMS integrations with HRIS, enterprise systems, third-party vendors, and content providers
- Coordinates testing, validation, system upgrades, releases, enhancements, and issue resolution
- Monitors system performance, data integrity, and platform reliability while implementing continuous process improvements
- Manages the publishing, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of instructor-led, virtual, online, mobile, and blended learning within the LMS
- Ensures digital learning content functions properly and complies with supported learning standards (e.g., SCORM, AICC, xAPI)
- Provides technical guidance to Learning & Development and business partners regarding LMS capabilities and content delivery
- Serves as the primary liaison between HRIS, IT, Learning & Development, Safety, Operations, vendors, and business leaders
- Translates business needs into scalable technology solutions
- Partners with stakeholders to align learning technologies with organizational strategy, operational priorities, and compliance requirements
- Champions LMS adoption and promote best practices across the organization
- Ensures learning technologies support regulatory, compliance, and organizational training requirements
- Maintains system security, user access controls, and data privacy standards
- Supports audits through reporting and documentation while monitoring regulatory changes that impact learning systems
- Manages relationships with LMS vendors, implementation partners, technology suppliers, and content providers
- Participates in vendor selection, licensing reviews, contract renewals, and performance evaluations
- Assists in developing budgets for learning technologies and identify cost-saving opportunities through effective vendor and technology management
- Designs and continuously improve the learner experience, including navigation, branding, learner journeys, mobile accessibility, and usability
- Develops communication, adoption, and change management strategies that increase user engagement and successful implementation of new functionality
- Develops and delivers training for LMS administrators, instructors, managers, and end users
- Creates and maintains user guides, job aids, tutorials, and technical documentation while providing ongoing technical support
- Develops dashboards, reports, and analytics to monitor compliance, learner engagement, completion rates, utilization, and operational performance
- Partners with business leaders to establish meaningful learning KPIs and present insights that support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement
Requirements

Five years’ related experience, with three years of recent experience administering SAP SuccessFactors learning management systems, or similar technologies

Bachelor's degree in Education Technology, Education Administration, Instructional Design, or a related field is preferred

Proficiency with learning management system (LMS) administration, data base management, and online/virtual instruction leadership

Knowledge of learning or talent measurement/analytics methodologies

Knowledge of design software and editing tools (e.g. Articulate, Camtasia, Captivate) is preferred

Experience with Adult Learning Theory and its application in virtual learning is preferred

Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft software programs such as Word and Excel
- Ability to effectively communicate, written and verbal, with co-workers and customers at all levels (internal and external); able to adapt to the audience in preparing messages and in choosing the appropriate communication channels
- Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
- Ability to read and comprehend manuals
- Ability to design and create creative text, visual graphics, etc.

- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including, but not limited to, percentages and ratios
