Summary
The Project Cost Control Specialist will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner. Roles and Responsibilities
The Project Cost Control Specialist gathers and analyzes project information to produce reports that track time, quantity and costs on a specific project. Reviews this information with the project team to improve profitability on the job.
- Uses the JMP process to gather cost information including but not limited to:
- Project schedule
- Time and quantities
- Updated daily logs
- Analyzes cost information (above) and then recommends to the project team adjustments to daily cost targets and goals
- Supports project team with recommendations on overall cost savings through procurements, scheduling of deliveries, resource management, manpower loading, equipment scheduling, etc.
- Collaborates with project team in generating pending change orders, budget revisions, procurements, financial reports, billings, cash management reports, time, and invoice approvals
- Generates weekly cost reports and drafts the monthly financial report
- May prepare and process sub-contract changes, billing, etc. to be approved by the Controls or Project Manager
- May oversee inventory management, supplier billing oversight, stored materials billings, etc.
- Maintains all logs including by not limited to concrete and rebar logs
- Champions Incident and Injury Free (IIF) environment for project
- Sets example by following safety guidelines including but not limited to wearing PPE on jobs, staying aware of surroundings, etc.
- Complies with proper safety procedures
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and 2 years’ related construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, construction experience, and/or training

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business related periodicals, journals, technical procedures, and government regulations

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures

Ability to effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Ability to work with computers and programs (such as Timberline, Primavera, BIM, Filenet, Bindr)
Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint -
Ability to use computer programs (such as Primavera, Project Management, FlieNet and Bindr , etc.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

Ability to understand Cost Accounting

Ability to provide strong internal customer service

Ability to provide constructive feedback to improve profitability on project

Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

Ability to understand and use contracts, specifications, drawings, and scope of work
