Why did you choose a career in construction?
I grew up in a DIY family where I learned general construction techniques for framing, electrical, plumbing, and so on. In high school, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in construction, so I studied construction management at Louisiana State University. While in college, I got involved in heavy civil construction and chose to pursue a career in concrete construction.
How did you come to work for Baker?
I joined Baker in August 2022 as a project manager. I wanted to work on projects that tested my skills and expanded my knowledge of concrete construction. I knew Baker could put me on projects that would challenge me and give me the knowledge and resources to become a great project manager.
What are you working on right now?
Currently I am managing a significant medical center project in Houston. The mat foundation was the most concrete I have placed in my career. It was incredible to see the amount of rebar it required. I had a lot of fun planning and coordinating that aspect of the project. Overall, I am very happy to have been placed on this project and realize how much I have grown as a project manager/leader during this time. It’s a special project because I know the facility will be used to help people who are going through a very difficult time in their lives.
Tell us a little about what you enjoy most at Baker.
The opportunity to work on amazing projects and discuss with my co-workers the best ways to construct buildings. I get to share my opinion on what is working and what is not. And in the summer of 2024, I was promoted to Project Manager II. The hard work and long hours I put into the medical center project were recognized, which made me feel very accomplished.

Our interns get exposed to work in the field, which helps them understand how the building of structures happens in the real world versus what is planned in the office prior to construction.
Why is Baker a great place to start your career as an intern?
College is a great place to learn, but there is nothing like actually doing the work. Interns at Baker learn how to plan and how to solve problems.
